"Destined"

The concept "destined" is rooted in the unsubstantiated assumption that the future exists independent of our ability to predict it, and that we (or something/one) possess knowledge of this state. This notion often carries a teleological belief that there is a pre-determined structure that determines the relationship between all matter and energy in the universe (omniscience). While the idea of such a predictive capacity can be comforting, it is ultimately a projection of our own limited ability to predict certain events.
